Rant: BECAUSE IT HAS RAINED EVERY DAY!! The grass grows, but the lawnmower sinks into the muck so it can't cut it. Half my tomato plants have given up from muck poisoning. Mrs. DoctorLew thinks the roof has a new leak. The gutters are clogged. The poison ivy is growing so fast that there it is taking over the flower beds and the hedges and thwere isn't a dry time to gown and glove and rip it out. Moss is growing on my north side!

RANT: I too, am sick of the rain. In fact, I've been sick of it for days now, and it's still raining. Our lawn has turned into a mushroom farm, and our deck has become a moss garden. RANT: Some family issues causing me to worry a lot, but I hope it all works out for the better. Only time will tell. RAVE: Did more local sightseeing last week - visited Franklin Park (designed by Olmstead), JFK Birthplace, and took a Harvard Campus tour. RAVE: Friends from FL will be in town next week, so we'll meet for dinner and I'll get to meet their newborn son. Happy Weekend everyone! P.S. Has anyone heard from batraveler? I don't think I've seen her around... is she moving/has she moved to Croatia?

You should live on the Left Coast where moss grows between your toes and ALL sides of you if you stand still for a few moments. For once, we're being careful about talking about the weather. The sunshine continues and yet the cool breezes are there, too. Rant/Rave: DH has decided we'll get a puppy. That should be fun. DS's puppy is so perfect to borrow though, and we get to hand it back. Hope it's not a mistake to get one of our own. DH needs a project to care about, so I'm all for it really even though we know who will get most of the work. Hmmmm. I've been thinking about batraveler, too. Hope she is well and happy. Also hoping that Patrick and Mike each got home safely after their excursions far and beyond. I think I'll go look at some of the trip reports this afternoon. Hope everyone lucky enough to be traveling is posting! Rave: At this very moment, I'm doing exciting things like carpet cleaning and waiting for the plumber to fix our water pressure. I can't even think about something more fun to be doing, so I know I'm becoming more zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I can't remember the last time it was sunny! I have a tomato plant (in a patio pot) that is croaking also, since it desperately wants sun. Our gutters are clogged, but the gutter cleaners can't get here because its raining too much. also crazy busy at work, and trying to get out of here to go visit my mom this weekend. All the family is going to be there (including cousins, uncles, my nephews from Texas), and if we are stuck inside the house it will be very unhappy. rant/rave -- visiting with ALL of the family.

I can see why you & Dave might enjoy a pet. I, however, can't wait 'til DS2 collects up the one he left in our care (as cute as he is and all that...). I tried (unsuccessfully) to upload some scanned pictures & an article from a magazine that I received in the newspaper this AM. It turns out that the reason I felt like I'd been 'home' in Chemainus was because a mayor from Dothan visited there in the 80's & brought the idea back 'home'. I'll try again later to upload it to here rather than your email, as it might take you a while to download? If I'm unsuccesful again, I may just place it on the web link that I have my Victoria albums. Dr. Lew, though we were where you are just a few weeks ago, the 100+ temps since then have sucked up all the water from the earth. So, if you'd be so kind, please send us a bit of your rain. Not a prolonged deluge mind you - just enough to give you & us both bit of a 'break'. It would be greatly appreciated! Rave: Planning a dinner date here with a couple of couples tomorrow night. I plan to serve Patrick's Red Pepper appy, Meetshare's Salmon/fresh cheese/mint/walnut appy, & GR's Lemon Drop Martini's & her Blitz Torte Cake Me - along with a steak , a veggie or two (Minted wax beans if available at the farmer's market) - maybe a green salad & rolls.

I hope things dry up soon enough. Rant: Most of my family is in New York right now, rain or not I would have liked to be there with them. Rave: I am finally scheduled for a small surgery July 9th, waiting to hear when it is going to happen just adds stress. Wishing all traveling TTGers (and there are many) a good trip and lots of fun.

I should be sitting down to dinner with my dear friend and her family, but instead I'm in BUFFALO. At least our AA crew has handled this very well and should get us there yet tonight.

I was talking to my son a few minutes ago in Westchester County and we had to cut the conversation short because of a thunder and lighting storm. Earlier, my sister in Northern PA had to cut the phone conversation with me she complained that a horrendous storm came out of nowhere.

We managed to use our remote-controlled fart machine in a variety of places, which amused the heck out of us. I'm not sure if our "victims" were quite as amused as we were. Most of them were politely trying to pretend they didn't hear anything, which convulsed us even further. The BC Ferries employee who was trying to direct traffic off the boat at Tsawwassen must have wondered what was wrong with the crazy women in the red Rav4 who seemed to have some kind of digestive problem. We bought lots of things but didn't manage to spend much money. The prices were even better than usual. We decided to pamper ourselves and got manicures about halfway through our shopping day, which meant that we got to sit down for a while, and then we shopped on until the Supermall closed down at 10 PM. The next day we went to Target and Trader Joe's, and then headed home. A good time was had by all. No rants! Stephen and I were just sitting outside in the sun trying to think of something to complain about, but nothing came to mind so we gave up.

That's wonderful! Enjoy! Though we are scorching here, it's been a grand summer so far - I guess you guys set the precedent when we visited in May & now, the whole season will be wonderful! We enjoyed having our neighbors over for dinner last night. Your appy was a hit, as was GR's cake. I couldn't locate the jarred sundried tomatoes for Patrick's dip, so substituted sundried tomato pesto, which made it a bit strong for my tastes. I WILL try it again when I can locate the tomatoes - I know I've seen them in a store here somewhere (probably WM).
