Joce is right. I can vouch for you too Patrick. You are a very good driver. Tell the rental office I'll verify that, lol.

Ignore that this says I'm Meesthare. I'm Patrick using her computer. She's busy making blackberry ice cream for tomorrow night.
This trip has suddenly become very dull without a single major incident in the past two days. It's just a simple whirlwind of fantastic weather, great fun, super food, the great Butchart Gardens today (I left a little of Lee in the mount in the sunken gardens among the azaleas), and lots of laughs here and there. Oh, should I mention I got stopped by the cops last night on the way back from dinner to Sooke? It was a full fledged road block and they were stopping everyone. Will they know I lied when I said I had only had one drink (I actually had two)? But they let me go. All that food soaked up the alcohol and I was sober as a judge. So tonight, I'm NOT driving, but riding with Cindy and Steven so I can consume as much as I want! |

Eek! Identity theft!!
Actually it's OK - I generously gave Patrick permission to use my computer because I didn't want him to see what a mess I was making in the kitchen. We got stopped by the cops last night too - Patrick was right behind us and they were stopping everybody. We hadn't had a drink, unless you count Stephen's ginger ale, and since he was careful not to burp while we were being questioned, they let us go in peace. |

I thought Patrick wasn't allowed to drive... did you drive in your bang-up car? And the police didn't stop you and pull you over???
(Hi Ger, we miss you!) |

Well....ummm...we're done....and we've decided no photos, no stories, no tales. What happens in Victoria, stays in Victoria.
Oh, yeah.... there were TWO axe murderers. Tsk tsk tsk. Don't ask. Oh, merdico... would all y'all come back, I forgot to serve the mini cherry cheesecakes.

Ger, am I correct that you have been to Turkey?
I'm going at the end of this month, would love any tips (from anyone!)--in the All Europe forum. Izmir/Ephesus for 2 days, Istanbul for 4 days. |

Hi Ger, good to see you back.
As was mentioned, yesterday we went to the beautiful Butchart Gardens (I promise to post pictures when I get home), then to Sidney to go crabbing with GR's husband and daughter. I hauled crab traps up while most of the "girls" went shopping. I guess being a crab myself (Cancer, born July 5), I was a natural for the job. We caught 7, which GR's husband cooked up for the GTG last night. Today we are going to see the ferry ballet in Victoria harbor, then to Sooke, where we will have lunch, then head over to Meesthare's house. Tomorrow, we go to Saltspring Island and nose around there. But endo is heading to Tofino, so will miss that. On Tuesday, Irma and I, and Patrick, head to Tofino. We will be staying there only 2 nights, then back to GR's for a night before heading back to Seattle, then home. The weather has been just fantastic, and the company even better. |

If you are on-line, let me know where you are lunching today and at what time. Probably won't make it in time for lunch, but can drop by to say hello.

OK, this is PATRICK again, not Meesthare.
I got out of the house this morning to leave the kitchen to Cindy and Stephen (after Stephen made pancakes with the thickest maple syrup I ever saw!). Magic seems to be happening in there and the house now smells of roasting corn and peppers. And I got a taste of the blackberry (with cinnamon) ice cream. I decided not to drive into Victoria to join the others for the tug boat ballet (I'm forbidden to, remember?), but I went down to the nearby Whiffen Spit in Sooke Harbor and had a wonderful walk. It's a narrow spit winding through the harbor (maybe about a mile?) littered with giant driftwood, surrounded by playing otters and seals, and the gorgeous snowcapped Olympic range looming across the water. It is spectacular. Of course it took forever because all these friendly Canadians stop me and chat about who I am, why I am here, and then offer a thousand suggestions of what I MUST do and see. I'm avoiding the "we're a bunch of people who met on an internet chat room" line. |

Ger, we're off to Saltspring tomorrow. Sorry paths are not crossing. We're just flying to get everything in. Hopefully, all the advice Patrick got on
Whiffen Spit coincided with what we've been doing.
Here's what the spit looks like. No whiffen and aimin, just spittin' http://photos.igougo.com/...land_BC-Whiffen_Spit.jpg |

I've got some photos together, so will post a few tomorrow when the gang leaves for Tofino, or home. OSB and friend Marion will leave early, Mike and Irma
leave late morning for Tofino to meet Mary Endo and Patrick.
What a lovely group of people they all have been. Cindy Meesthare and I have really enjoyed hosting this. Travel is a wonderful tie. The weather has been beyond spectacular, and will continue till Patrick and Mike leave. I'm so relieved. I know I'm not responsible for the weather, but it helps when it cooperates. I hope this works: http://s2.photobucket.com...GTG/?albumview=slideshow

Nice pictures GR. It looks like everyone is enjoying the visit. I am sure you and Meesthare had a lot to do with the success of this gtg.

Honestly, I have to give the credit to GR - she truly did the lion's share of organizing and planning. I produced dinner for everybody one night, but the
gold medal goes to GR for all her work in making this the success that it was. There's no way I could have taken on as much as she did, and I don't
know how she managed - but she did so beautifully.

Are you serious? Meesthare was always there to advise, encourage and hold my hand when I fussed or stressed over details. She deserves equal share.
I just wish someone would have taken a photo of the spread that I put out on Saturday night so that OSB will stop complaining about not being fed properly. : ) |
