Most of you can probably now claim that you know the only person who as been hit by a school bus both from the back (some 40 years ago) and now from the front. OK, I was driving out of the National Park at Crescent Lake Lodge. I was behind an empty school bus -- the driver had just dumped the kids off for boating. The bus stopped. I stopped well behind it. Suddenly it started backing up at me. I honked. It continued backing up. With one hand I held down solid on the horn, and with the other jammed my car into reverse. I was backing up, but not quick enough. She plowed into me, crumpling the front of my car (not bad -- I'll still be driving it the next 25 days crumpled hood and all. The worst thing was she didn't even know she did it. She then started forward and turned (she was backing up because she overshot her turn.) I jumped out of the car and ran after her screaming at the top of my lungs. I called 911 who sent the National Park police. Of course I was heading to Port Angeles to catch my reserved ferry to Victoria, and was worried about missing it. I was not within my hour early, but no problem.

So let's recap. Day 1 -- got a speeding ticket in my Florida rental car on the way to the airport -- just 4 and a half blocks from my house!
Day 2 -- rental car won't start and I spend 7 hours waiting for another one to be brought to me.
Day 3 -- hit by a school bus.
Day 4 -- so far a perfect day. (if we don't count trying to slash my throat while shaving and half bleeding to death). But at least no issues with the car yet!

If it weren't for the glorious weather -- and I do mean GLORIOUS, the wonderful company, the great food, the super tour of the Castle that Joan gave us this morning, and the super hospitality at Meethshare's in my lovely "guest" apartment, I'd be thinking of packing it all in and heading home. But it can only be smooth sailing from here on in.
