My husband should love Foyle's War- he is really interested in WW11. I get it on Netflix after I get back from California.

Even though my husband & I weren't that into WWII history, we found Foyle's War fascinating. The website I gave above has lots of additional
information about the history background of each episode, as well as the DVD extras. After watching the series, it prompted me to give a return visit to the
Imperial War Museum in London for the WWII exhibits. Having seen the show gave new meanings to the artifacts.

I never knew that's what Foyle's War was about and I never checked out the show. (I just assumed it was something military.) But it sounds good.

I'm not a fan of the show, but this is the Dr Who's David Tennant
and this is Christopher Eccleston

We're rather fans of David Tennant. Did anyone see Viva Blackstone? (Did I get that name right?) Also Tennant played Casanova in an amusing 2 or 3 part bio
on tv.

I saw Casanova. I didn't actually care for it that much.
Christopher Eccleston had a short stint on the first season of "Heroes" here in the US. But he was mostly invisible, so that wasn't much fun. Actually, he may have been in later seasons, but I stopped watching after season 1. |

Oh, the Invisible Guy! I remember him. I stopped watching after Season 1 or 2 -- I can't even remember. But it's not on my schedule now.

speaking of Casanova, this is off-topic, but did any of you see the big screen version with Heath Ledger, a few years back?
It was preposterous, but pretty to watch, and he was absolutely charming. What a versatile acting talent he was! |

Just had to come back and thank you for telling me about How Not To Decorate. We watched our first episode today and will be recording all future showings. I
especially liked it when they returned to show what the flat owners had changed afterwards -- rather improvements, all.

It is a hoot, is it not? The decorators sometimes get hysterical, the crew sometimes, the clients sometimes, but mostly the results are gorgeous.

The one I saw was an exception then, because the results were only gorgeous if you were into that sort of thing and the clients most definitely were NOT. She
hated black and they designed everything in black.

I watched that one myself, and agree with you. I liked her final results.
Some of the clients have, frankly, no sense of or interest in style, and one wonders why they allow decorators in the first place. Some of them end up reinstalling their old, dirty, drapes or furniture. One couple kept animals in their living room in huge cages (rabbits, rodents, birds) and also owned several dogs that had never been house trained. After Colin and Justin, the decorators, left, the couple moved the cages back into the livingroom, and proceeded to have the dogs leave messes on the new carpets. Another couple had a stuffed animal collection (that even on tv looked rather the worse for wear) and put those back in the livingroom, too. You don't have to change your life because decorators say to, but then why allow them in? |

Do try to get the Canadian version if you can. More drama, more decorating more fun.
I do think that they don't have a sense of place, or whatever you might call that. For instance, the colours in Arizona wouldn't look right in another part of the country or the earthy West Coast colours would not be right on the Prairies. Everything they do seems to scream citrus and loud. |

Oh lordy, elaine, those sound so great. I can't wait!
GR, what is it called in Canada? Same title? If so, I guess we don't get it here, because when I did a title search on Comcast I only turned up the British show. |

Same title...saving Canadians from their bad taste is how they put it. Here's a web connection or a view of the boys in our Mountie red.

GR, I edited your link above to make it work.
Oh, it's the same Colin and Justin in Mounty red! How fab! What the 'bio' doesn't mention, is that they're married to each other. |

I saw another one last night. OMG, I cannot believe this couple actually lived in the house that was selected. It looked like an abandoned squat, quite
frankly. The redo was a huge improvement, but I can't say I'd want to live with any of it myself (except maybe the bath). Black and yellow dining room?
Orange kitchen? No thanks. (And I'm not a "neutrals" sort of person; I do like color.) Still, the show is fun and now on series recording mode.

It really did look like a Ratso Rizzo, abandoned, kind of house, that was literally falling apart.
I kind of liked the orange kitchen, not the yellow dining room. And I may be wrong, but I think they ended up with a house that had a kitchen, utility room (nice), dining room, bathroom, no living room, and only one bedroom? for American viewers, here's a link I wish BBC America would re-run Ground Force and Changing Rooms again.

BBCAmerica needs to get over 'Cash in the attic, Bargain Hunt, You are what you eat and How clean is your house?'
They are getting old, too many repeats 'You are what you eat' and 'How clean is your house' are actually shown on Channel 4 not the BBC Any 'Bargain Hunt' episodes that have David Dickson as a host aired before 2005 but still we get the repeats. BBCAmerica is a misnomer, quite a few of the programs are made by othe TV channels. Isn't 'How not to Decorate' a blast? Poor Katie - I wouldn't want her job, you can only bet that Colin and Justin would be sporting bruises within the week of me starting. If you subscribe to netflix - I would like to suggest 'The Piglet Files', gentle and subtle humor. It stars Nicholas Lyndhurst from 'Only Fools and Horses' |
