For example, what is "Pudding rice"? Do you have a favorite version that you recommend? And please say if it is the custardy and firmer, vs creamier and softer, variety. (My own standard for rice pudding is the creamy version that is found in good diners in New York City (but I like it better with raisins). I'll bet it comes from a jar. Whenever I tried a recipe, I couldn't keep myself from totalling the recipe. No control, absolutely none. NYC's rice pudding (sans raisins) tops my list too. I am also an authority in creme brulee and jello. I refuse to try a recipe, an act of self-preservation.

Supposedly, this rice can be found at Tesco's & Sainsbury's in England. However, on another site, posters wrote they could not find a product that specifically said "pudding rice" altho they found rice with smaller kernels that was acceptable. Or, you can bag it all & get Kozy Shack (LOL)!

Not that I make rice pudding but if I did I would certainly not use long grain rice I tried that years ago (just after we got married and it was horrible) I'd probably try arborio for the creaminess. Or Ambrosia creamed rice I'll even eat this cold from the can - gourmet?? not in the slightest

Just make the rice pudding as per usual and brulee the top. Although I have not tried it the idea sounds good. The texture of the soft rice and hard crunchy top would work well. You're sure about the chocolate risotto?

If I'm even contemplating dessert - and I usually don't - if either of those are on the menu - I'm toast!! The most decadent plate of either was in a hotel believe it or not - a dish of creme brulee with fresh raspberries and a scoop of cognac ice cream. That was absolutely amazing. It's on my list of items for my "last meal" if I ever have one.

That would be precisely what I would have ordered as well. Anything bruleed and I am there. The combination with fresh raspberries and cognac ice cream - can it really get much better than that? I've asked my husband for a little torch so I don't have to watch my brulee so carefully on broil.

I had Turkish rice pudding twice, and it was fabulous. I've just ordered a Turkish cookbook to start experimenting with. I found these Turkish rice pudding recipes online, haven't tried them. Sutlac and Sutlac There should be a cedilla under the 'c' and so it would be pronounced Sewt-lach, I think.
