Sounds wonderful. We loved the Great Barrier Reef, but haven't been there since 1987. Sigh ...

Hello from Los Angeles! It is HOT here!
Our visit to Lizard Island was outstanding. We flew in a tiny plane with only 4 other passengers and had the entire island to ourselves. We snorkeled for over 6 hours! On the way back, I got to sit right next to the pilot. Pretty cool but the plane ride made me a little queazy. We arrived in LA yesterday and our flight was pretty uneventful. I slept almost the entire time so jetlag hasn't been too bad. We spent our first day here visiting The Grove and the Farmers Markets and then we went to Santa Monica beach and walked all the way to Venice beach. Lots of interesting people there. Today, we visit Hollywood. Checked out Madame Trussaud which was fun but overpriced. We then walked around Melrose and Rodeo Drive. Bought a few things. I just had to! Tomorrow is our last day and we're going to Universal Studios. Should be pretty fun! |

I am now home. Yesterday was a long day. Our flight from LAX to Chicago went fine but our Chicago-Ottawa flight was delayed for 3 hours. They put us on the
tiny plane and realized there wasn't enough fuel to get to Ottawa so they made us wait for an hour in our seats. Once they re-fueled, they realized they
had put too much fuel and that the plane was now too heavy to fly. We waited another hour in our seats before we were told we had to get off the plane. We had
to wait another hour at the gate until they found another plane we could use. Oh well, at least we got home safely.
With that said, our trip was fantastic. We had perfect weather and I don't think my brain has fully processed all the wonderful things I've seen/done yet. I'll be working on uploading my pictures and videos in the coming week. I'll post the link here when I'm done. Cheers! |

Looking forward to seeing the pix, mcbg1. I linked this thread on the Trip Reports forum, so if you put the photo link here, it will all connect.

"I don't think my brain has fully processed all the wonderful things I've seen/done yet."
Isn't that always the case? Sometimes it takes me months, or even years, to really appreciate everything I experienced on a trip. That's why I'm such a stickler about writing trip reports--it's a great way to experience it over and over again. |

I'm glad you enjoyed the trip mcbg1. I've enjoyed catching up on the report and made a mental note about Daintree for sometime after we get there.
Seems like a fun place we could work in on a weekend.
