Most of the time when we are in the country we stay in "country house" hotel places.
we spent 4 days in Questembert, touring the Brittany coast and the food was so great at our hotel , we never tried anywhere else!perso.wanadoo.fr/lebretagne/cadre0.html As an aside , in addition to being a wonderful patron/chef, M. Paineau is a very talented artist..all the paintings at the hotel are his and can be seen in the website pages. In Normandy, we stayed far out in the countryside and again had wonderfull meals at our hotel. I recommended it to another TTGer recently and she said it was one of the best meals of their trip. Moulin du Vey in Clecy..www.chateauxhotels.com/pu...382b3d0d2b Between Amboise and Bloise, in Onzain, Domaine des Hauts de Loire. It was so good we've been back 3 times to stay for various periods..www.domainehautsloire.com/ |

In planning for my trip to Provence, I have the following recommendations.
Bistrot de La Petite France Former Michelin one star restaurant, just outside Maussane near Le Paradou in a renovated farmhouse. Excellent food, good service. Casual. Reservations recommended Closed Wednesday and Thursday 55, avenue de la Vallee des Baux Tel: 04 90 54 41 91 Lunch Menu - 25 euro La Source in St. Rémy - 13, avenue Liberation Tel: 04 90 92 44 71 Charming, small restaurant fairly off the tourist path. Very good food, beautiful shaded terrace overlooking a garden for summer dining. Closed Wednesday Totally non-smoking 13, avenue Liberation Tel: 04 90 92 44 71 Lunch menu around 21 euro Dinner menus 30/40 euro La Maison Jaune in St. Rémy - 15 rue Carnot Tel: 04-90-92-56-14 Set meals: 52 Euros Gourmet; Provencal -- 44 Euros (four dishes, cheese and dessert) Le Chasagnette - NOTE: Cigalechanta warns that this restaurant is closed until April '06. More changes may happen. The only registered "organic" restaurant in France, almost everything is grown in their gardens. The menus are based around Camarguais tapas. Many of the items are available in jars and containers to take home. An amazing memorable restaurant highly recommended. Lunch menu at 37 euro Dinner menu at 52 euro Closed Tuesday and Wednesday lunch Tel: (33) 490 97 26 96 |

typing is difficult so i'll do bits this time.
La Chassagnette is closed until spring, maybe longer. there's been a change in the making. Their great chef left over changes. it may come back as a bistro. Le Petite France is a dull place mostly staid, I prefer down the road in Paradou. The Bistro du paradou for its ambiance and simple food. Popular with tourists. Lunch and Dinner (dinner served only from June through the end of September). One Menu, based on market shopping - basically you eat what Jean-Louis' wife cooks. Check the menu of the day before reserving Dress is casual Tel: 04 90 54 32 70 Lunch menu - 36 euro Dinner menu - 43 euro In Maussane center We love Le Place and Ou Ravi |

L'Esplanade in Domme in the Dordogne. Really top notch food (used to have a Michelin Star and trying hard to get it back), superb service (its a family run establishment, so its like staying with favorite Aunt). The hotel is also an excellent base for exploring the Dordogne. |

Another fan of La Chassagnette!! It was a surreal experience. The meal was fabulous and went on for three hours. We started out in Ste Maries de Mer at the crypt of St Sarah and followed our meal in the bird refuge watching pink flamingoes. It remains one of my favorite experiences of all time.
We did try Le Source in St Remy and were underwhelmed. The nuit? Perhaps because I think I also left my beloved scarf there. La Fourchette in Avignon has not yet been mentioned and I would go there again in a heart beat. There is a one star in St Quentin de Poterie(help with name please). Our friends live there and she does wine tours for JoAnne Weir. The groups often end up at this place. While it was closed during our stay in Bonnieux, we sent our friends to Le Fournil and they are still raving about it. We stayed at Les Trois Sources just outside of Bonnieux and I cannot say enough good things about it. We also ate at David in Rousillon which is rather "precious" with prancing waiters but the views of the ochre cliffs are divine and the food is very good. |

Grimke, it sounds like you're referring to La Table de l'Horloge located in a former village school in St-Quentin-la-Poterie not far from Uzès. We were in Uzès for about a week a little over a year and a half ago, and I had thought we might try it, but never did.
Our hands-down favorite within the old central part of Uzès was Les Trois Salons at 18, rue Dr Blanchard not far from the Duchy. Their tasting menu was delicious, with an option to pair wines with the courses; it changes weekly. Our visit overlapped two of them, and we enjoyed the first time so much that we returned for the new menu. It was equally delightful. As the name implies, there are several dining areas. The first time we sat ouside in the courtyard on a balmy evening, and the second time at a window table in one of the interior dining rooms overlooking the cobbled street - very different environments, but each very pleasant. |

We missed lunch at Les Trois Salons by moments when we were in Uzes but it looked fabulous. The dining room is lovely. We do hope to go back. |
