I know, I'm missing all of the big first-timer stuff, but I figure I'll get to the city with the kids eventually, and we can see it all then.
No questions or anything at this point, I just wanted to share!

In about 48 hours I'll be on my way to NYC for the first time. I can't believe it's taken me this long to get there. I'm meeting up with a
couple of girlfriends for a fun, relaxed, food-centered weekend. We'll be staying at Hotel Giraffe. I think
we'll spend most of our time south of the hotel, shopping in the Lower East Side and SoHo. We have dinner reservations at The Spotted Pig and A Voce. We're also planning on brunch/lunch at
Prune. On Sunday we'll do a three hour food and culture walking tour of Greenwich Village through Foods of NY.
I know, I'm missing all of the big first-timer stuff, but I figure I'll get to the city with the kids eventually, and we can see it all then. No questions or anything at this point, I just wanted to share! |

It sounds like a great time! Don't know why I thought you'd said your 'Girls gtg' was always in NYC? I thought I was the only neophyte. I
hope I get to go within the next year. I'll look forward to your trip report!

My girls' getaway weekend has been in a different place each year: so far San Diego, Santa Barbara, Paris, and now NYC. I always have a great
time--it's fun to escape without the kids every now and then.

Have Fun!
The word "food" is repeated several times in your post. Why not, lots of my memories of NY involve food. Maybe a hot dog on 6th Ave, a pretzel on 5th, some rice pudding? Just go with the flow and have a good time. |

I hope the weather will be nice! I hear it's been raining and raining (just like here in Boston)! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Have fun! I
still remember my very first time visiting NY and my first view of the city emerging from Lincoln Tunnel...

The weather is supposed to be beautiful, but I badly hurt my toe today! It's all black and blue and I can barely walk. Great timing, eh?

Oh, sounds like my kinda trip Jocelyn. NYC is best enjoyed while walking so do bring some
comfy (even non-fashionable) walking shoes so your tootsies don't impair you having a grand time. And, of course we expect a FULL gastronomic report, pretty please. |

I'm sure you will enjoy your first visit and will want to come back again and again. Hope you are planning on seeing a show while you are here!

Oh, wow, Jocelyn. In your previous posts it had totally gone over my head that you have NEVER been to NYC before. Enjoy it. Going there is like getting a huge
adrenalin booster shot for me!

Have a great time. Don't worry about wearing sneakers with anything when walking longish distances -- working women have done that in NYC for many years.
(working women being women in business not "working girls" in the "trade"!) We're likely to plan a trip to NYC sometime this summer to
visit DD.

Having a fantastic time!! I especially love the downtown neighborhoods. Had a great day of shopping, eating, and wandering today. Eating tour in Greenwich
Village is tomorrow.

Have fun Joc (I guess today now). Too bad Flor's Kitchen closed down in the village, but I still like the croque monsieurs at AOC. As long as you're
not staying at the Washington Sq Hotel, you're probably having a good time!

I'm heading to the airport this morning. I walked miles and miles yesterday. Overall conclusion of NYC: Midtown leaves me cold but neighborhoods like
Nolita, Soho, and Greenwich Village suit me perfectly. I'll write a trip report as soon as life allows.
