On my way back home from Australia in August, I will be staying in LA for 3 nights to visit some family that I haven't seen since I was 8 years old. Does
anyone have any suggestions on comfortable hotels in a nice location?

LA is huge - where does your famly live? What else do you want to do while you're in LA? Are you renting a car? Traffic is horrible in LA, so I'd
recommend you stay somewhere that's close to where you want to go/visit.

Los Angeles is a huge area. To help narrow recommendations down a bit, how will you be arriving and in which area does your family live?

y2000k: I've heard great minds tend to run in the same channels. Sorry - we were both typing our responses at the same time.

Wow that was quick. Well my family lives a little bit outside of LA but we would like to stay downtown. Our family suggested the Roosevelt or the Renaissance.
That area would be best for us I think. Oh and we will be arriving from LAX and we won't be renting a car. Our family will show us around. It'll be my
first time there so I'll probably do the touristy things: Hollywood sign, Walk of Stars, Rodeo Drive, see some beaches, etc.

Those 2 hotels are in Hollywood, quite far from downtown. Hollywood is fine given your interests. There are also hotels in Santa Monica, closer to the ocean.
Downtown LA is about 10 miles inland from the ocean. I like it because I enjoy the historic architecture there (1920s), but that location is not convenient for Hollywood. |

yeah I think we would prefer staying in Hollywood or Santa Monica then.

Here's a link to CA hotel deals on Travelzoo. both the hollywood Renaissance and the
Roosevelt have discounts.

I ended deciding to stay in West Hollywood instead. I bid on Priceline and got the West Hollywood Hyatt Andaz Hotel for 100$ a night. Not bad!
