said it. That's always been hard for me to admit, especially as my "Places I've Been To" list keeps
growing and growing. Paris? Yes.
Rome? Yes. London? Yes. Why had I never been to New York City? I don't know.
I'd just never gotten around to it, I guess. Chicago has always been closer and more convenient, with

Hi Elaine! I too am sorry I missed you. We'll try again soon!
Re: Prune, the Bloody Mary (with beer chaser) was $9 and my chickpea stew was $14. Menu prices are listed on their website. http://www.prunerestaurant.com/ Certainly worth it IMO. That farro risotto was really nice, too. As was Joe's
Pizza. Sigh.

Good to know about advanced reservations at Top of the Rock. I'm really looking...

Except for that Nolita restaurant harpy, I'm SO glad you all had a good time. (I'd like to think she was suffering from a toothache. A really really
bad toothache.).

As soon as I saw the word 'food' in your title, I knew you'd had a great trip. That food tour sounds like a great idea, I might do it myself. I am
already a fan of Amy's Bread--my waistline wishes I didn't like it so much, and so I'm glad I live on the other side of town. I've...

Of the many ways I would describe New York, the words "cold, impersonal, sterile urbanity" would never occur to me. Not even midtown. My father used
to believe the suburbs started above 59th Street and below 34th Street.

Having your own personal tour guides - and foodies at that -

no doubt eased any fears you had & made for a more fulfilling

It was at Cafe Habana, at around 4:30 in the afternoon. We were tired and thirsty from hours of nonstop shopping (I know, poor us). We stopped in and asked
if we could sit at the bar to order coffee. The bartender said something like "those seats are saved, sit at that table." We sat at the table and
waited patiently. We waited a long time, but we were happy to be sitting so we didn't care. A waitress eventually came by and asked us what we wanted.
We told her three iced...
