ChiChi, when you do get around to rent Foyle's War, do so from season 1 (I know it seems obvious). The series started at the start of WWII, and ended 6
seasons later with VE Day. While I enjoyed the murder mystery part, it really peaked my interest in learning more about life in the UK during WWII (and
prompted me to visit Imperial War Museum in London).

Hi ChiChi, Foyle's War is all done showing on PBS, except for an occasional rerun. For the real thing, get it on DVD. The PBS version of Foyle's War is
butchered - the show is actually 100 minutes but PBS cut out 10+ mins to fit it within the 90-min timeframe.

The next few weeks will be the NEW Miss Marple. Wonder how this new one compares...

Well, we turned on the subtitles this time, and boy, we probably missed 30% of the conversation!

Last Sunday was the first new Poirot on Masterpiece Mystery. Subtitles helped a lot there too, given how many different characters there are in Agatha

Now that someone's mentioned the closed captioning, that reminded me that I now regularly use the c-c when I rent DVDs of Doctor Who and Torchwood. I
don't need it for most of the stuff, but every so often there's a word or phrase I just don't catch. I got tired of going back to hear again what
was said, and I've since I found it easier just to turn on the c-c from the beginning. I really only notice it when I need it, which is less often than it
used to be.
