The return of hay bales. No Vikings, but exploding for the challenge.

After 14-15 seasons this is the first time I can remember a fight about how the other team member performs the task. I know it should have happened a long time ago with the sideline "coaching" from the waiting member. I wonder if one day Dan/Stan/Sam/Dave will turn into one of those Little League Dads all the coaches and parents hate

Some of us here on Fodor's, TTG and Facebook have been planning a massive GTG for 2010. After much debate, the decision was made to have it in Santa Fe, New Mexico for the weekend of September 10-12, 2010. Since some of us will be traveling a great distance, the festivities might start a day or two earlier and go on a day or two after.

BIG RANT: My ethuics class has no morals Seriously they are lazy and rebellious and I can't wait for the term to be over. One guy even asked me why he had to clear his paper topic with me as he knew what he wanted to do. I said because I'm the professor. Not a great reply, but damn, this one has been pushing my buttons all term.

Wasn't that fun tonight!!??!?! I have to admit I had seen a spoiler and thought I knew who was going tonight, but the editing of tonight's show sure had me doubting that I had read or remembered it correctly. Oh, the looks on some of those faces during the reading of the votes! Loved it, great editing job tonight.

Bigdog is all pissy because he wanted Russell to go. He doesn't seem to get the wonderful comeuppance or the fact that most watchers have switched from...

iPhone capacity

Yes, I still love my iPhone.
But, no video.
Now, not enough room for my music?
I never owned an iPod, still don't.
I spent time putting a TON of music on my home computer.
When my phone syncs now, it tells me it doesn't have room for it all.
Okay, so it's not a substitute for owning an iPod.
But how can I edit or select the music that the phone will sync to, since it can't absorb all that's on my computer.
How do I control what it...

Started on July 1, now my scale shows -17. I think it's not bad for 4 months. I am trying to eat right, tiny early dinner, lots of veggies. Too bad ice-cream is not a veggie

Preserving family memories

I don't know why but every year I start thinking about the family starting early in November all the way through Christmas.

A couple of days ago, I cooked salteñas for my family and my son said "my girlfriend has no idea how to cook, I don't think I'll ever have salteñas after you are gone" I started thinking my boys will not be able to eat foods they liked as kids, they have no idea what is in them. Yeah, yeah they cook. Spaghetti with meat balls, chicken...

So Pete and I are taking 3 months off in Jan, Feb, Mar.

During that period we're planning to take a 3-4 week trip somewhere.

Probably (though not definitely) wildlife oriented. Definitely photography oriented. Possibly food oriented, though that's more minor as it's often a conflict with the first.

We don't tolerate heat nor do we want to be somewhere during rainy season so many of the places on our wishlist are out - this isn't the best time...

it may not be the prime season, but I've got Italian gelato on the brain. I couldn't find a gelato quiz, but did find this quiz about ice cream. Average score is 4. I got 6, but in order to improve my score, I'll just have to do more "research."

why don't iPhone cameras have video capability?

just got back from a trip, and i had with me my iPhone, a pocket-sized camera, and a larger camera with a big zoom lens.
My iPhone takes remarkably good photos, as long as flash isn't needed. But why oh why can't they take videos, when so many simple cameras can?

GPS on cellphones

Good news Mike. Google just came out today with a free GPS application which will be added to new cellphones. Apparently all the cellphone companies are going to be competing for it. It is pretty much like a Garmin or even Tom Tom only better and as I said before FREE.

Dog training

We've been taking our new seven month old puppy to Petsmart for the puppy training class, and I have to say I'm very impressed. Although I've had dogs all my life, I am learning new ways to help our lively pup behave himself. Today he mastered "sit, down, and stand" and make a start on "roll!" He actually comes running when I call him which is something our old dog sometimes did or sometimes happily ran in the other direction.

Mom's died after 20 years. Anyone here own one they are thrilled with & want to recommend? Or, any ones to avoid? She is specifically & definitely set on a canister style. I checked with Consumer Reports & though they have some ranked well, the online reviews don't support them very well - none higher than a 3 out of 5.

I'm talking about the regular seasonal flu shot. I got it once when I was 19 and then had the flu. Now, I am 70 and have never gotten it again nor have I ever had the flu. Tomorrow they are are being given at a local community center so I have to decide today if this is the year to start.

checking in very briefly from beloved Venice. Weather chilly but sunny, and the city as fabulous as always.
TC loves it too, though we lose 60 minutes every day due to her hair ritual, plus make up ritual plus whining rituals (feet hurt, it;s cold, what should I wear, blisters, hungry, etc). But Im still smiling.
On to Firenze.

I need inspiration, please. Perfect Christmas for two, at home, no schmalzy stuff.

My beloved (we've been married 30 years, and I still think I'm pretending to be a grown up) has announced that he wants a quiet Christmas at home- just the two of us. This would be a first. The pattern has been mostly dinner at his folks, and in latter years, dinners for his folks at our house. Twice we've done dinner at our house with my family.

Things are different, now, so options are open. His preferred option would not be mine, but I'm happy to oblige.
